ICAPP Conferences have a unique and intimate format, unlike any other conferences: papers are sent to attendees prior to the Conference, so that the Conference is devoted to discussion. Meetings are held in the mornings, so that the remainder of the day can be spent recreating or sight-seeing. Life-long professional contacts are made.
This year’s theme is "The Therapeutic Crucible: How Clients Help Us Grow". As clinical social workers we continue to learn and to grow from our work with clients. Our charge is to learn from our clients while maintaining a professional, therapeutic stance. Some of our most valuable learning may not be reflected or reported in the literature. What have you learned from your clients that challenged what you already "knew"? How did your frustrations force you to think creatively? What were your successful failures or failed successes? Did any of your experiences lead to research or to new formulations?
