Registration Information

The International Conference of the Advanced Professional Practice of Clinical Social Work (ICAPP-CSW) sponsors annual, international conferences on relevant and timely clinical topics which are both professionally and personally satisfying to the clinical social work private practitioner. The conferences provide the clinical social worker with excellent annual supervision/consultation as well as wonderful networking opportunities in which life-long professional contacts are made.

Unlike any others, ICAPP-CSW conferences have a unique and intimate format for the clinical social worker to enjoy, which includes the following: attendees receive the papers to be read in advance of the conference so that the conference itself is devoted to discussion. In addition, meetings are held in the morning so the remainder of the day can be spent on recreation or sight-seeing.

This year’s theme is “Body, Mind, and Spirit: The Biopsychosocial Dimensions of Clinical Social Work.” The clinical social worker has always addressed the client as a whole person, such as biologically, psychologically, and socially. The 2008 Conference will be addressing the following issues: How do we integrate newer knowledge, including research findings, into our practices? What significance do recent findings about the brain have on our work? What about other scientific discoveries that extend the life span? How do recent social changes, including terrorism, affect how we practice? How do we feel about integrating the client’s religious and spiritual beliefs into our work? Since exploring newer theories about human development can expand our understanding of mental health, we welcome the submission of papers relating to this year’s theme. Papers should include practice examples in order to enhance the discussion element of the conference.
